North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue declared a major incident relating to the significant number of wildfire events in the county during the period of very hot weather. NYF&RS asked for assistance in rescuing a large lamb which had fallen perhaps 9 or 10 metres from the top of Catrigg Foss and was stranded on a ledge between the upper and lower waterfalls. A team member abseiled down, caught the lamb and persuaded it into the animal bag.
