NYF&RS asked for assistance in rescuing a large lamb which had fallen perhaps 9 or 10 metres from the top of Catrigg Foss and was stranded on a ledge between the upper and lower waterfalls. A team member abseiled down, caught the lamb and persuaded it into the animal bag. Team members and firefighters then hauled the lamb to the surface, in the bag, before releasing it over the fence into its pasture, apparently none the worse for the experience.
