A caller, living over 200 miles away, where there had been heavy rain and flooding, was unable to phone his son (35) who had intended exploring Bull Pot of the Witches. He therefore contacted Cumbria Police, concerned about his son’s safety, some three hours earlier than their agreed ‘call-out time’.

A walker (m, 19) called the ambulance service saying that he and a companion (f) were lost and cold. The call went to NWAS, via a mast in Lancashire, and information was passed to YAS, who called CRO because their system showed the mispers to be on the summit ridge of

The team was called by YAS after a walker reported that he had sustained an ankle injury. Telephone communication was poor, but it seemed that the casualty may have been in the Colt Park area, so team members were put on stand-by. Just as the duty controller’s PhoneFind message revealed

North Yorkshire Police advised the team of a report of a missing walker (f, 42) in the Ribblehead area.  As the Duty Controller was making preliminary inquiries, the missing walker turned up safe and well. Volunteer hours: 1

The team were alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to an adult female with a suspected broken ankle. The given What 3 Words (W3W) reference put them in the Airton area. However following initial enquiries by the Duty Controller the incident appeared to actually be on Cross Fell in Cumbria. Following

A party of five cavers was reported ‘overdue’ from a trip through the Easegill (‘Three Counties’) system from Lancaster Hole to Wretched Rabbit. The alert was very soon rescinded after a member of the party ran back to Bull Pot Farm to delay the call-out time to 23.00. Volunteer hours: 

North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum shared a serious flood alert with all of the county’s SAR teams and held an on-line discussion to plan for any necessary action. Rainfall and water levels were monitored, but the risk appeared to be less than anticipated. The Silver-level alert was cancelled on Saturday.
