The CRO Challenge is a fundraising walk or run through the heart of our operational area in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. It forms the team’s main fundraising event of the year and by undertaking one of the two Challenge routes you can help us fund our mission of saving lives above and below ground. The Team’s annual operating costs are around £70,000.
The next CRO Challenge will take place on Saturday 16th May 2026. There is a limit to the number of entries we can accept, so please book your place early.
There are 2 challenge routes that you can undertake, either as a walker or a runner:
- The Ingleborough Marathon – 26.2 miles (42.2km) and 3800 feet of ascent (1160m)
- The Clapham Circuit – 12.4 miles (19.8km) and 1630 feet of ascent (495m)
Both routes start and finish at the team’s depot in Clapham, North Yorkshire and will take you along footpaths and tracks seldom used, yet they take in some of the most attractive areas of our team’s operational area. Further details of the routes are here.
All finishers will receive a medal and a certificate, showing the time that it took them to complete the event.
The cost of entering the event is £15 for the 12 mile route or £25 for the marathon route. This can be made as a personal donation or raised through sponsorship, which also gives you the opportunity to raise further funds for the CRO (or another charity if you prefer)
