A walker (f 64), enjoying a multi-day traverse of the Dales Way path, was stopped short when she slipped and heard her ankle crack. She reported that she did not need an ambulance, but could not weight bear and could not walk any further. The walker and her companion gave a good description of their location and they were easily found by CRO team members. After assessment by a team paramedic, an ankle sprain was suspected. The stricken ankle was supported with a vacuum splint and the walker carried a short way in a stretcher to meet with a CRO Landrover at High Gayle farm. After a short ride down the farm lane, the pair of walkers were taken in a team members car to their pre-booked evening accommodation, from where they intended to arrange for a family member to collect them.
