A competitor (m, 44) in the Spine Challenger ultra-marathon event (along the Pennine Way from Edale to Hawes, in one go) collapsed at Comb Hill, just above the head of Watlowes (a.k.a. ‘The Dry Valley’), North of Malham. Even after attention from the event’s doctor, he was unable to move, so team members carried him, by stretcher, to the road at Langscar Gate, where he was handed over to YAS paramedics for the journey to hospital.
