A Three Peaks walker (f, 37) slipped on the descent from Pen y ghent, sustaining an ankle injury. She was assisted to the gate above High Birkwith Farm and NYP was asked to call CRO. As it happened, two team members and a team Land Rover were at Ribblehead ‘awareness raising’, so they drove round to Birkwith. The casualty was assessed, splinted and given pain relief, then helped into the vehicle and driven to Horton.
Eventually – when family, car and car keys were re-united – they took the patient to hospital on their way home.
